The demise of a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS
So my older son needs to take pictures for the yearbook at school, but can’t find his camera at the last minute before leaving for school. What’s the harm in loaning mine?
Well, said camera ends up in his jeans pocket, and goes through the wash. And, despite previous good luck with saving a MacBook when it went tete-a-tete with a bottle of beer, and saving an iPhone that mixed it up with a bottled water, the Canon is beyond recovery.
Took a hell of a beating in the washer, too: case is scratched on all eight corners, lens is partway out, lens cover doesn’t close, and the battery de-laminated. But the LCD is pristine (for whatever that’s worth) and the pics came off of the SD card just fine.
