In the distance, my elder son repeats one of my old classic jokes to his friends. I’m proud, and slightly sorry for him.

TweetDeck on the iPhone reminds me (in a good way) of the Sidekick due to all the sound effects. In this case, subtle, helpful, and fun.

Figured how to fix iPhone wifi geolocation
Finally figured out how to fix erroneous iPhone geolocation, when you move your wifi access point to a new location and you don’t have a cell signal to prompt the phone to relocate itself. The trick? Tell the phone to forget your wifi access point and then re-add it. I’m guessing the geolocation is stored with the access point data.

Geolocation on the iPhone 3GS
As a recovering techie, i enjoy how the iPhone (and the Mac, for that matter) hides most of the technology under the covers. But at the same time, my mind is always trying to figure how the have implemented things as well. Yesterday we went to the cabin, where there is no cell signal. While indoors, I launched the iPhone map app and hit the ‘locate me’ icon - and took the map all...

New and shiny doesn't mean 'iPhone killer'
“NOKIA LAST night introduced its new N97 smartphone, the device which will put the world’s largest maker of mobile phones head to head against Apple, which has surprised the market with strong sales of its iPhone.” Why is it that anything with a touch screen is being called the ‘iPhone killer’?  People have been trotting out the features and functions argument forever: it...
